It's a way for Meta to help followers distinguish between official accounts and fake or unofficial ones. However, not all well-known accounts are verified, and the verification process is at Meta’s discretion.
How can I apply for an Instagram/Facebook verification badge?
On your Instagram profile, go to the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) > Settings > Account > Request Verification: Instagram will provide you with a form to request verification. After you fill out the form with the requested information and submit it, Instagram will review your request and notify you of their decision via a notification in your Instagram account.
